Post Considering Lifetime Hockey summer school adult camp?
Lifetime Hockey has generously supported Gopher Women’s Hockey by providing free tuition for one person for this years clinic to auction off in the annual Women’s Hockey Silent Auction.
Why is this significant? This fabulous prize will be auctioned off tonight at Ridder Arena as the Gophers take on Mankato starting at 7:07. If you are at all interested in attending the camp this summer here is an opportunity to snag yourself, or a loved one, a spot while helping support Gopher Athletics.

There will also be other items available such as signed photos of the players, signed photos of past Gopher players currently playing for team USA, other donations from area businesses, etc.

Disclaimer: I'm not suggesting you should skip your JMS sessions tonight, but since the auction closes at the end of the second period break you could come to the game and still make your session tonight, well except for you level 2 players at SLP. You can send your wife/husband and kids, it's really inexpensive to get in to watch and this is a really good offer.

I was talking to someone at SLP last night and he expressed an interest but wanted to know what other players thought. Anybody have feedback?

I'm very interested in the Lifetime camp as well. If anyone has any feedback, I'd appreciate it... before shelling out the $545 or so for it.

I'm also considering the Super rink's adult skills that starts in the Spring. Seems to be a good price, and fits my schedule well (Thursday nights).

Speaking from the perspective of someone that started hockey as an adult...

I attended a Lifetime camp my first year playing hockey, 03-04. It was the later summer one, a 3 day weekend. The instructors were fantastic. They were clearly very knowledgeable and friendly. There was lots of work on skating that transitioned into team play ideas.

My only real knock on it is that it is a "camp", it all takes place in 3 - 5 days. I don't know about you, but even 6 years ago and in better shape, this was still very demanding physically. What is the first thing to go when you're tired? Your brain. You won't absorb as much being dead tired. Execution will suffer. I prefer my instruction spread out over a several week span where you can be given an idea, work on it, improve on the execution, and then add something again.

I probably wouldn't recommend it to a brand new player as much as someone that's been at it for 8 - 12 months. If memory serves, it was kind of like Rob Little's Intermediate instruction. For JMS-analogies, I'd guess Level 3 would be a good place to start. Levels 1 and 2 I can't see getting as much out of it.

So if you've got the ability and finances, it's definitely worthwhile, I just wouldn't instantaneously recommend it to a newer player like I would a Rob Little skating clinic.

Several players on the Diablos at D1 and D2 attended the NSC Adult Clinic:

They all responded favorably to the content and knowledge of the instructors. They were impressed. Several opted to go through the instruction a second time and I signed up for the upcoming spring session along with a few other teammates. At $125 it's a great deal.
